Airwallex Multi-Currency Balance and Transfer Checklist

Airwallex

When managing Airwallex multi-currency balances and transfers, treat “how much is available” and “which currency goes to which beneficiary” as separate checks. Features vary by location and account status. Follow the Airwallex UI and official docs. This guide is for real business fund operations, not verification evasion or using another company’s account.

Keep a balance ledger by currency

Review available balances per currency against your cash plan. Do not treat unsettled or restricted funds as spendable cash.

Assign a weekly reviewer and log gaps. Track currencies separately instead of only a converted grand total.

Verify beneficiary and currency before transfer

Confirm beneficiary name, account identifiers, country, and currency against the contract or invoice. Wrong-currency payments can bounce, cost more, or delay.

Use dual control for new beneficiaries: one enters, one checks the source document. Do not pay to chat-only account numbers.

Read fee, FX, and arrival disclosures on the page

Before submit, read the fee, rate, and arrival information shown in-account. Some values are locked at quote time; others still depend on banks. Trust the live screen, not old screenshots.

If cost limits matter, write an acceptable fee cap into the approval form first.

Close the loop with approvals and references

Link each transfer to a request, approver, Airwallex ID, and status or bank advice. On failure, check final status before resending to avoid double payment.

Finance and operations should use the same reference fields.

Separate who can view balances from who can send

Prefer separation of duties and extra approval for large payments. Remove transfer rights on the day someone leaves.

Do not forward admin codes to personal social apps. Complete security or verification tasks through official flows with authorized staff.

FAQ

Why can’t I transfer when the balance looks fine?

Currency mismatch, account limits, missing permissions, or incomplete beneficiary details are common. Read the on-screen prompt instead of resubmitting blindly.

Can we pay an account sent only in chat?

That is risky. Match the contract or invoice and dual-check new beneficiaries.

Is a converted total enough for multi-currency cash?

No. Payments need specific currency balances. Track FX and fees per currency.

How do we avoid paying twice after a failure?

Confirm the original transfer’s final status, then decide whether to create a new one, keeping failure evidence on file.
